JoAnn Longshore, Owner and CEO of InfoPro Corporation, will be presented with the 2012 Aaron Smith “Continuing The Fight” Award by the Huntsville American Cancer Society at this year’s Relay For Life.  Sheena Powell, with the ACS, delivered flowers and a letter inviting her to receive the award.

Relay For Life will be held at the John Hunt Park on Friday, May 18, from 7:00PM to 7:00AM.  Presentation of the award will be during the opening ceremonies at 7:00PM.

The Aaron Smith “Continuing the Fight” Award was instituted for the 2006 Huntsville Relay for Life in honor of Mr. Aaron Smith and will be awarded every year in memory of Aaron’s strength, spirit, and support.  This award will be given to a survivor who exemplifies the same qualities as Aaron Smith. The recipient of the award will be a community leader who is helping others in the fight against cancer through a positive outlook and through their inspiration to others.  The recipient will be local to Madison County and be involved in Relay for Life.

JoAnn, along with husband Billy, became founding members of the Relay’s President’s Club before she discovered that she had cancer.  Once diagnosed with breast cancer, she endured chemo, surgery and radiation with dignity and purpose.  Drawing strength from her cherished new granddaughter, and her family, friends and coworkers, she has worked tirelessly to educate and encourage others to be proactive in their own health.  A precious grandson has joined his sister and this fuels her determination to carry on the mission to find the cure for cancer!

If you are in Huntsville on May 18, please join us at the Relay For Life.  InfoPro will be located in tent #29 – directly across from the stage.

InfoPro’s Stephen Schell, instructor at the Naval EOD School at Eglin Air Force Base, has been presented with a Merit Bonus for his outstanding contributions. He is a highly motivated, dedicated, and self-actualized employee who possesses a broad scope of knowledge and a diversified skill set in robotics, construction planning/management, engineering, and building. Additionally, he’s a creative problem solver who recognizes deficiencies and/or problems and, by applying his unique skill set, develops and implements solutions to overcome the identified deficiencies/problems.

Stephen designed and constructed all the robotic training facilities and developed the new Robotic IED practical and test problems, making realism during training a key objective. He was primarily responsible for Robotic maintenance and is the Subject Matter Expert for Robotic Operations for the IED Division. Additionally, Stephen maintains all Robotic IED curriculum including Power Points, Lesson Plans, Testing, and TAGs. He is currently facilitating the complete revision of Robotic IED curriculum; updating reference material and ensuring students are receiving current information.

Pertaining specifically to this award, he designed and lead the construction of a 62,000 square foot Robotic Training Facility. This task, estimated to have a value of well over $1 million if completed by an outside contractor, was completed within a two month period at a very nominal cost. Materials used in its construction were from previous or cancelled Naval School, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) construction projects. The results of this project have been so outstanding that outside agencies, including the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), are requesting tours. More importantly, EOD students are now provided a world class Robot Training Facility to develop and hone their skills.

Because of Mr. Schell’s dedication and professionalism, EODS now possesses a facility that ensures NAVSCOLEOD’s position as the world leader in training IED capable EOD Technicians and as the premiere Robotic Training Facility in the world.
